Q:Kelsey! Do you have any suggestions as to where I should go/ anything I should see whilst in Manhattan & in Brooklyn??
When are you going?! This is so exciting!
- I’m biased because of the whole art obsession thing, but you HAVE to see MoMA. It’s wonderful and there’s a little cafe on the same street called “Le Pain Quotidien” where you can find the best pastries and teas.
- Prospect Park in Brooklyn is absolutely the most beautiful park I have ever been to. It’s way less crowded than Central Park and it has the most gorgeous lakes and trees!
- If you love milkshakes, make sure to go to Shake Shack (in Union Square). Also in Union Square is Strand — the coolest large bookstore I have ever been to.
- DUMBO (Down under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) has a really neat pier/park that allows you to see pretty much the whole skyline and they also have the most delicious ice cream shop. The surrounding area has cobblestone streets and is relatively empty so it’s fun to run around in!
- The High Line!
- Brooklyn Flea Market happens every Saturday morning (I think it’s every Saturday — you might have to check that out online if you’re thinkin’ about going).
- Lucky Dog is a bar where people bring their puppies. The Back Room is a hidden speakeasy that has bookcases as secret doorways!
I feel like I’ve done so much random exploring of NYC, especially Brooklyn, over the past year so I’m probably missing lots of things. The greatest moments in the city, to me, are usually the places I ended up at by chance. Make sure to sleep very little, stay out late, and take lots and lots of photos! New York is home to so many great small businesses and restaurants so there’s definitely never a dull moment. :) If I think of anything else, I’ll make sure to message you on here or Twitter! HAVE FUN, GIRL!!!
